The first Earthship built in Nicaragua, Casa Llanta is a logical
approach to building in rapidly developing nations. The project employs local community members
and educates them in the skills of sustainable building.
The aim is to
provide the community with skills that
will foster a healthy independence from economical fluctuations
that affect the basic needs of its members. Additionally, we hope to
demonstrate to future developers that the cleanest water
comes from the sky, and the most reliable energy source is
independent.
Casa Llanta currently functions as a living home and is the first of its kind in our community. It is also the site of our annual Earthship Pitaya music festival. Contact us today to take a tour of Casa Llanta or get involved with the local community and upcoming festival.
Through its development,
Casa Llanta will demonstrate that aside from the obvious
securities of living “off grid,” the best investment is one in people and community.
